Job Summary:

As the Vice President of Digital Production at ESPN, you will be responsible for overseeing production and operations for ESPN's digital platforms, ensuring the delivery of original video and podcast content across various channels including YouTube, Live Streaming on the ESPN App, and ESPN+. Leading a team of over 60 producers, editors, talent, and operations staff, you will manage staffing, logistical planning, and budgetary oversight. Your role will involve driving the digital and social video content strategy, maintaining proficiency in the latest trends and technologies, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to expand audience reach and revenue opportunities. The p rimary location of this position is Bristol, CT with Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY and Charlotte, NC as optional.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of 60+ producers, editors, talent, and operations staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure the successful execution of digital production initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain proficiency in the latest trends, technology, and best practices for digital and social publishing and distribution.
  • Oversee the overall digital production content strategy, including resource allocation across sports, topics, and priorities on digital and social platforms.
  • Recruit and retain top talent that significantly contributes to all digital platforms, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence.
  • Coordinate with linear production Senior Coordinating Producers to shape content and expand audience reach.
  • Collaborate closely with ad sales teams to pitch content for sponsorship, manage expectations, and deliver on ad impressions and revenue goals.
  • Ensure all content meets established tone, theme, accuracy, style, and consistency requirements, maintaining ESPN's brand integrity and reputation.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic growth in both revenue and traffic metrics, analyzing data and market trends to drive decision-making and optimize performance.


Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of leadership and management experience, with a minimum of 10 years in digital media production, preferably in a senior-level role.
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media landscape, including YouTube, live streaming, and emerging platforms, with a focus on sports content.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and complex projects, with experience in staffing, logistical planning, and budgetary oversight.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of identifying opportunities for growth and driving initiatives to achieve business objectives.
  • Deep understanding of digital content creation, distribution, and monetization strategies, with experience in ad sales and sponsorship integration.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and metrics-driven decision-making, with the ability to interpret analytics and leverage insights to optimize performance and drive revenue growth.


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Production, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA is $229,026 - $307,230 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
