GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Saxena Laboratory in the Center for Genomic Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic candidate to join our research group. Our research group uses human genetics and complementary strategies to: (1) identify the genetic basis of sleep and circadian rhythms;(2) reveal mechanistic links between sleep/circadian rhythms and cardiometabolic and neurological diseases; (3) ascertain fetal and maternal genetic risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes and investigate their pathophysiology.

The candidate will lead analyses of genetic projects including GWAS, gene x environment interactions, mendelian randomization, exome sequencing and post-gwas analyses.

Candidate will have the opportunity to work in a unique scientific environment that will include working closely with other bioinformatics investigators to answer key biological questions by performing genome scale computational analyses and coordinating such projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong background in basic science, good programming skills, advanced knowledge of statistical methods, advanced expertise in the analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data focusing on sleep and pregnancy disorders.

The candidate will be located at the Simches Research Center at MGH. The candidate will be expected to interact closely with several collaborating laboratories, as well as students, postdocs, and staff across the CGM and the broader Harvard sleep genetics community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for data management and statistical analysis for new and ongoing studies. Job duties require applicant to have strong working knowledge of regression modeling and epidemiological study design and knowledge of R and related data analysis pipelines.

• Responsibilities include managing large-scale dataset and both developing and applying regression based analyses of epidemiologic and epigenetic data.

• Collaborate with PI, Center staff, and site PIs in performance of the above duties.

• Collaborate on the preparation of grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Understanding of data management and data analysis workflows.

• Advanced knowledge of statistical and epidemiological study design.

• Proven ability to learn new computational tools and packages.

• Excellent communications skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable):

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required

Master's Degree strongly preferred

EXPERIENCE:

One year of data analysis experience is strongly preferred.
