Responsibilities

It is an exciting time at Mayo Clinic, as we are building the most trusted generative AI and LLM-based solutions to empower our staff, improve our practice and transform healthcare. To accelerate our generative AI strategy, we are forming a cross functional team of technical experts. This team will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the Generative AI Program's Request for Application (RFA) Process, its entrants and winners
  • Providing temporary tiger-team efforts to accelerate key initiatives
  • Expanding the organization's understanding of LLM technology through:
    • Development of best practices, knowledge assets, and code examples to accelerate the efforts of others
    • Execution of technical proofs of concept and exploration
  • Providing consultations, presentations, and sharing of knowledge across Mayo Clinic to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Providing guidance across the Generative AI program workstreams as technical experts

The Senior Content and Service Specialist is an expert in their field of communications, media relations, social media, digital, news and/or staff engagement communications. The Senior Specialist manages complex and cross-functional projects through entire project life cycle to achieve objectives - monitoring and measuring results in accordance. Provides thought leadership to identify potential areas for strategic Business Development communications, marketing, digital and brand building initiatives - engaging with other applicable groups and stakeholders as appropriate. Accountable for producing and disseminating factually, stylistically, and grammatically correct content while adhering to Mayo Clinic brand standards. Demonstrates understanding of audience dynamics and tailors content delivery accordingly. The Senior Specialist proactively seeks opportunities to generate positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, experts, and external collaborators in industry, innovation, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Provides timely response to urgent requests for information, working with Public Affairs, institutional and departmental leadership, colleagues, and functional areas accordingly. Oversees department's digital presence. The Senior Specialist must have the ability to work in a multifaceted environment and be self-motivated, self-directed, creative, collaborative and highly organized.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in technical or scientific writing, journalism, communications, advertising, business, marketing, healthcare, or similar field, and a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a relevant field including inventorying, creating, and maintaining digital content, proficiency with digital marketing tools, familiarity with healthcare and scientific terminology. Must demonstrate ability to consistently produce concise, well-written professional communications along with a high level of resourcefulness and creativity in gathering needed information and adapting the deliverables as necessary. Ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view, be self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized. Maintains a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Requires problem solving, critical thinking, active listening, exceptional oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills.Proven expertise in creating and executing communication strategies based upon business objectives and strategic initiatives of the Department. Experience in a technology marketing, including multiple marketing outreach programs for research-based innovations. Understanding of technology transfer/commercialization, intellectual property management, startup company formation, venture financing and business development. High personal motivation supporting a strong work ethic, flexibility and creativity is essential. Must be able to effectively work independently and collaboratively to drive forward multiple projects simultaneously, possessing initiative, analytical skills and an ability to operate with a high level of productivity. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Has a positive influence on others.

$81,744.00 - $122,678.40/ year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
