Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environment Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to the management team and be accountable to the legal entity Directors for providing competent advice on environmental protection.

You should have excellent knowledge of environmental regulations and a track record of providing competent advice on environmental protection. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with various teams and stakeholders.

What awaits you?
  • Provide technical leadership to the management team with respect to environmental management.
  • Accountable to legal entity Directors for provision of competent advice (defined by statute) regarding environmental protection (excluding product related environmental regulations).
  • Influence RRMC environmental strategies, procedures and guidelines with regional considerations, trends and legal requirements.
  • Interpret and translate RRMC into regional programmes to achieve environmental targets.
  • Lead teams of indirect associates to translate environmental targets into programmes to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Proactively anticipate internal and external changes (including legal requirements) that could affect the business and implement countermeasures or negotiate change programmes with those Business Units affected.
  • Lead teams of indirect associates and managers to implement robust certifiable environmental management systems.
  • Innovate, implement and monitor the environmental management system to ensure that it is operating at a high standard and certifiable at all times.
  • Audit all aspects of the management system to ensure delivery of management system requirements in accordance with the requirements of the management system.
  • Proactively maintain currency of knowledge regarding environmental, legal and other requirements and ensure that measures are implemented to establish compliance.
  • Undertake 2nd party international audits as required by BMW Group.

What should you bring along?
  • Experience in an operation permitted under Environmental Permitting Regulations.
  • Experience operating a certified management system, e.g. ISO14001, ISO9001 or ISO18001.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Sound comprehension of production & manufacturing operations.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Proactive and solid skills at problem solving for complex systems using recognised processes (FMECA, 8D, Etc...)
  • Able to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Flexible approach
  • Organisation and planning skills
  • Higher level of technical education in relevant subject matter with suitable professional qualification(s) e.g. recognised University Degree / Diploma or equivalent.
  • A good comprehension of modern safety practices
  • Thorough understanding of UK environmental legislation.
  • Practical experience of environmental control measures.
  • Excellent communication skills, at all working levels.
  • Experience of working in cross functional teams.
  • An excellent working knowledge of ISO management system standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams at all levels of the organisation.
