Description

 Union Pacific Railroad Company is looking to fill a Senior Project Engineer position in Omaha, NE. May telecommute up to 50% of work time.

Accountabilities

•    Design and develop software solutions for Shipment Management Applications with a focus on User Interface, including front-end User Interface design and development;
•    Demonstrate subject-matter expertise in front end development by quickly developing highly usable software applications;
•    Collaborate with the Shipment Management team on projects requiring complex User Interface work;
•    Work with other team members to assist in meeting project goals through understanding software applications and problem solving;
•    Work closely with Customer Care and Support (CC&S);
•    Support product owners in an Agile environment to incrementally release new applications to support company growth; and
•    Design, program, code and analyze new computer programs and data structures in accordance with specifications and user needs.
•    Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
•    Correct errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
•    Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.
•    Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software.
•    Perform or direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
•    Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct.
•    Ensures that code adheres to strict standards for accessibility, scalability, usability, security, object-oriented practices and performance.
•    Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
•    Deploy and monitor application to Server and resolve issue.
•    Utilize the following technologies: Object Oriented JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap , HTML, CSS, and Grunt, Java, Jenkins, Sonar, Jira, confluence, Git, SVN, NodeJs , XML, Restful Services.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Required

•    Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in computer science, software/electrical/electronics engineering, management information systems, or related field plus 12 years of progressively responsible experience in software development, computer programming, or a related occupation required. 
•    2 years of work experience in front end technologies such as Angular development or Java development.
•    2 years of work experience with J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Coherence, or micro services.
•    2 years of work experience with Object Oriented JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap , HTML, CSS, and Grunt, Java, Jenkins, Sonar, Jira, confluence, Git, SVN, NodeJs, XML, Restful Services.
•    Proficient with front-end languages including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
•    Familiarity with testing tools including Jasmine, and Karma.
•    Good problem-solving skills, troubleshooting skills and ability to react.
•    Excellent communication skills.
•    Able to build good working relationships.
•    Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create top-performing interfaces.
