Position Overview: As a Cook I within the prestigious Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a world-class culinary experience to our discerning guests. This position demands an individual with exceptional cooking skills, extensive experience in elevated cuisine or scratch cooking, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Responsibilities: 1. Culinary Expertise: Demonstrate expert-level knowledge and proficiency in cooking techniques, culinary principles, and various cuisines. Create innovative and high-quality dishes that adhere to the Resort's standards of excellence. 2. Food Preparation: Oversee the preparation and presentation of all dishes, ensuring they are prepared to the highest quality, maintaining consistency, taste, and visual appeal. 3. Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of cooks, ensuring efficient workflow, proper training, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Foster a positive and motivating work environment. 4. Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality control measures to uphold the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation. Continually strive for excellence and seek ways to improve processes. 5. Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management, ensuring proper stock levels, minimizing waste, and maintaining a well-organized and well-stocked kitchen. 6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and sanitation standards to guarantee a safe and hygienic work environment. 7. Guest Interaction: Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any special dietary requests or preferences, and providing exceptional service. 8. Event Support: Collaborate with the culinary team to cater for private events, weddings, and other exclusive gatherings hosted at the Resort. 9. Training and Development: Identify training needs for junior staff members and contribute to their growth and development through coaching and mentoring. General Purpose: The Cook (Culinary II) requires good communication and culinary skills. The Cook (Culinary II) should have professional knowledge of cooking ingredients and procedures. Must be willing to work single stations in the kitchen with and without supervision. Essential Duties: • Prepare cold side appetizers & plate desserts. • Setting up station in preparation for work shift. • Become familiar with the kitchen, staff & menu. • Cooking products according to preparation requests and plating guides. • Ensuring all work area is properly set up and organized and clean. • Processes vegetables for station prep and service. • Aids in pastry prep when needed. • Follows outlined recipes and plating guides to provide consistent product. • Monitor and enforce proper safety and hygiene practices. • Observes and tests foods being cooked by taste, smell, sight, and texture. Education: High school or GED required Basic Required Skills: • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. • Knowledge of table service standards. • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware. • Ability to describe all menu items and methods of preparation. • May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands: • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5 hours in length. • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed. • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. if needed. • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity. • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees. • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
