Position Overview:

The Pool Attendant at the prestigious Beach Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort plays a vital role in ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for guests visiting the pool area. As a Pool Attendant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe pool environment, providing excellent customer service, and assisting guests with their needs. Your friendly and attentive demeanor, combined with your knowledge of pool operations, will contribute to creating a positive and relaxing atmosphere for guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Guest Service and Assistance:
    • Greet guests warmly and assist them with their needs, including providing information about pool amenities, services, linens and resort offerings.
    • Ensure guest satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries, requests, and concerns in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Assist guests with setting up poolside chairs, umbrellas, and other amenities to ensure their comfort and enjoyment.
    • Monitor pool area to maintain a serene and safe environment for guests, enforcing pool rules and addressing any violations or safety concerns.
  2. Pool Area Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area, including regularly picking up trash, organizing pool furniture, and ensuring towels are available.
    • Regularly inspect pool facilities, including restrooms, showers, and changing areas, and promptly report any maintenance or cleanliness issues.
    • Monitor water quality and perform routine tests to ensure proper chemical balance and cleanliness of the pool.
    • Arrange for necessary repairs or maintenance of pool equipment and report any malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.


  1. Safety and Emergency Response:
    • Maintain a strong focus on guest safety and vigilantly monitor the pool area for any potential hazards or unsafe behavior.
    • Respond promptly and appropriately to any poolside emergencies or incidents, following established emergency procedures and protocols.
    • Administer basic first aid when necessary and promptly contact the appropriate medical authorities or resort staff as required.
    • Conduct regular inspections of pool safety equipment, such as life rings, first aid kits, and rescue equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  2. Pool Activity Coordination:
    • Assist in organizing and coordinating poolside activities, such as games, events, and special promotions, to enhance the guest experience.
    • Set up and maintain any necessary equipment or materials for pool activities, ensuring they are in good working condition.
    • Encourage guest participation in poolside activities and provide instructions or assistance as needed.
    • Collaborate with the resort's entertainment or events team to ensure seamless coordination of poolside activities and events.
  3. Communication and Reporting:
    • Maintain effective communication with other resort departments, such as guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance, to ensure guest needs are met promptly and efficiently.
    • Document and report any incidents, accidents, or guest concerns to the appropriate resort personnel and follow up as necessary.
    • Keep accurate records of pool attendance, equipment maintenance, and other relevant data as required.
    • Stay updated on resort amenities, services, and events to provide accurate information to guests.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is preferred, with experience in a pool or beach setting being advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service to a diverse range of guests.
  • Knowledge of pool operations, including safety protocols, water quality maintenance, and poolside amenities.
  • Ability to enforce pool rules and regulations in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure the pool area remains clean, organized, and visually appealing.

Basic Required Skills:

• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.

• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Knowledge of table service standards.

• Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.

• Ability to describe all menu items and methods of preparation.

• May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

• Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by environmental systems.

• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5+ hours in length.

• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.

• Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.

• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs. as needed.

• Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. if needed.

• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.

• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
