The Balsams has been in operation since the 1870s, and is open 23 to 24 weeks in the summer and 15 to 16 weeks during the winter. Situated on 15,000 acres of woods and mountains, the entire resort is larger than Manhattan Island. Activities in the winter include downhill and cross-country skiing. In the summer, guests have access to golf, tennis, and swimming in both swimming pools and the lake.
