Duties

Provides analytical and consultative services to Division management to ensure strategic alignment of programs, services and policies with the Bureau's mission, goals, and objectives.

Works with Division senior management in implementing any new and revising established policy directives affecting operations, and developing plans, programs, policies, and training programs.

Composes talking points, routine and ad hoc technical reports, and other briefing materials for use by the Executive-level staff in meetings and other settings in which these officials must present to various audiences.

Develops new ideas, methods, and procedures to utilize personnel and financial resources more effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:

Education:

GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

Experience:

GS-12 and GS-13:You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

GS-12:
  • Experience preparing and editing technical documentation, correspondence, responses to Congressional inquiries, and memorandums for department head level review.
  • Experience analyzing technical information and making recommendations regarding existing policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with procedures for preparation and clearance of legal documents and editing functions.

GS-13:
  • Experience collecting, developing, and analyzing information to provide recommendations, resolve complex issues and develop and implement policies, plans, and programs impacting nationwide policy and programs.
  • Experience analyzing, extracting, summarizing, and identifying significant trends and issues as they relate to attorney and legal staff work trends, and recruitment and retention.
  • Experience working with executive members of organizations and agencies, internal and external to the agency on critical issues and goals.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid or unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.

The representative rate for this position is $129,759 per annum ($62.17 per hour).
