Description:

Under the direct supervision of the campus department Manager, coordinates and delivers pastoral services and spiritual support for patients, their loved ones, and staff as a member of the Palliative Care Team. Chaplain fellow role, mentored by the Palliative Care Chaplain and physician chief. As a specialty candidate develop inter-disciplinary spirituality discussion sessions for Geriatric and Palliative Care Residents and Fellows, contribute to research, and participate in all aspects of palliative care chaplaincy. Also serves as a resource to staff to educate and provide for the religious needs and observances of patients and their loved ones of different faiths traditions.

This is a one-year position.

This is a rotating shift with weekend coverage.

Required Criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Enrollment in or completion of four units of CPE. Anyone hired without four completed units of CPE will be required to complete them prior to start of fellowship
  • Actively working towards certification by a certifying body recognized by the Spiritual Care Collaborative such as APC (Association for Professional Chaplains), NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains), NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains), etc. or appropriate equivalency approved by the Corporate Director of Pastoral Care & Education
  • If ordained, must be in good standing with the ordaining religious body, evidenced by official endorsement or letter of good standing from a denominational official


Preferred Criteria:
  • Graduate theological education or Master's Degree in a related field
  • Four units of ACPE
