Unposting Date: 2024-05-15 11:59 PM This role requires full time on site presence. Your role We are looking for a reporter who is motivated to serve CBC audiences in Waterloo region. The successful candidate is a strong critical thinker with a track record of digging up news. This person has a passion for the craft of storytelling on multiple platforms: digital, radio and video, and a track record of experimenting with new formats and storytelling techniques. The successful candidate will be an exceptional writer and an experienced chaser of original and enterprise stories. You will explore beyond the obvious and bring stories to light that reflect the full range of diversity in this complex region. You will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You will further our original, enterprise and investigative storytelling and ensure we are talking about what matters most to people throughout the region. You confidently use sources including documents, data, access to information laws, and confidential and community sources to uncover news. You are a strong and articulate storyteller who will report live into the local radio programs and news. You seek out ways to share stories from Kitchener-Waterloo with other local and network shows. As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You understand the makeup of the region and its diverse population, and you reflect our communities in the stories you tell. You are a champion of amplifying the voices of under-represented people and communities in your storytelling. You are a collaborative member of the team. You have proven your commitment to an inclusive and respectful workplace culture. Your work will be governed by the CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP). You may be assigned to a work shift that includes occasional or regular 7 am starts or 7 pm finishes, or an ongoing/rotating weekend shift. Key tasks:
