WAVY-TV 10/ WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic WEATHER INTERN who is ready to experience the exciting world of TV-news behind the scenes. This intern will be trained to build unique weather graphics and learn how to tell a complete weather story. This is an UNPAID / FOR-CREDIT position for the summer semester 2024 only. We are looking for someone who has completed atmospheric and meteorology courses, understands journalistic integrity, and has a passion for how weather affects everybody. Should have a basic understanding on how to read and forecast weather maps and if possible, but not required how to use The Weather Company MAX computer graphics. Familiarity with ADOBE Premier is a plus. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern *must be* enrolled in a college degree granting program, and *will be required* to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program. 12-15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.
