As a Product & Service Development Engineer II, ConnectedDrive Business Development, you will assess information technology systems and drive change to better meet business needs. You will identify, specify, and negotiate product requirements and their usability and feasibility for the US markets. You will influence the implementation of US-specific requirements during the development phase of new systems/functions for assigned features. You create awareness within the BMW Automotive Group development departments about potential US-specific legal requirements and/or restrictions for BMW development projects. You identify, communicate, and prioritize top issues to project management, functional owners, and development partners in BMW Automotive Group and BMW North America. You synchronize and agree on resolution implementation according to project milestones to ensure product quality. You support the development process by validating integration backend software on devices/applications depending on project need. You report project status and test results using standard BMW reporting tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence) and other agreed methods. You test and validate innovative future technologies for which testing methods and test cases, or use-case scenarios that do not currently exist and must be created and executed.

The pay range for this role is: $86,084.00 - $101,275.00.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-4 years in engineering or software development field.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Available for overnight business travel (less than 5%).


Preferences:

  • Preferred 1-2 years working within BMW development especially with pre-integration HW/SW.
  • BMW B1, B2, and E1 license.
  • German language skills a plus but not required.


Additional Skills:

  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to work under pressure and with compressed timeline.
  • Able to adapt and willing to continually learn new technologies and concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive technologies with focus on BMW highly preferred.
  • Workflow and life cycle model knowledge, strong documentation skills.
  • Developed networks into BMW Automotive Group (especially development departments) highly preferred.
  • Strong social skills to ensure working interface with BMW Automotive Group despite the physical distance.
