Responsibilities* The Mechanical Technician Associate is responsible for supporting two instructional labs within the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program. The primary role is in weekly lab preparation, daily or weekly experiment verification, interaction with graduate student instructors and students. This position requires a 'hands-on' technician with a broad skill set with an eagerness to learn. In addition to the technical aspect, the position requires significant communication skills to successfully interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff members. The candidate should have a natural collaborative spirit to assist all students and ensure a safe learning environment. During non-instructional periods, short-term assignments to other duties within the Mechanical Engineering department will be part of this position especially during the summer months. Duties include: 35% Laboratory experiment set-up and confirmation 25% Grad student training and student lab interaction 25% Various Mechanical or Electrical design/assembly/maintenance/repair 15% Machining, fabrication and assembly of lab test fixtures/specimens Required Qualifications*
