Summary This position is located in Channel Islands National Park, in the Facilities Management & Transportation Division. Housing is not available. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee. Overview

Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: SELECTIVE FACTOR: Must possess and maintain a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Marine License AND: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(2) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP. A Recruitment Incentive May Be Authorized for a newly selected employee when appointed to a permanent, temporary, or term position. A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another. Physical Demands: The work involves prolonged standing and constant mental application and alertness; is subject to strains, bruises, cuts, mashed hands and feet, bums, falling overboard, drowning, and other marine traffic hazards; during poor weather conditions, anchor watches must be used to prevent hazards to vessel or passengers; incumbent may sustain long periods without sleep; combination of sea and weather conditions can cause susceptibility to motion sickness; lifting, loading and unloading supplies and cargo required incumbent to be in good physical shape; SCUBA operations require good physical conditions and an annual physical examination; and the incumbent exerts moderate to heavy physical effort lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions: The incumbent will be exposed to the prevailing weather for long periods of time including hot sun, fog, rain, spray, wind, and heavy sea spray. Conditions and routine day to-day situations may arise that may require the incumbent to work in cramped, dirty, slippery quarters, compartments and loud engine rooms. The incumbent may be exposed to possible falls on deck and the possibility of falling overboard. The incumbent will be required to work while the vessel is under way with decks awash and the vessel in storm-tossed sea conditions and must meet and maintain NPS-4 physical condition standards for scuba diving operations. The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
