To qualify at the GS-13 level you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level equivalent in difficulty and complexity to perform the duties of a Field Manager. Qualifying specialized experience includes: providing supervision, leadership, motivation, and direction in program areas that support the management of multiple-use and ecosystem management within an organization; developing and maintaining effective relationships and communications both orally and written with a variety of groups, such as local, State and Federal agencies, tribal governments, advisory groups, congressional staff, interest and user groups, private organizations and the media; demonstrating experience in workforce and strategic planning, identifying issues, resolving conflicts and negotiating solutions; overseeing responsibilities for administrative and financial management functions including budget planning; and enforcing policies and programs related to leave administration, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), safety and drug and harassment free workplace. Please note there are no educational substitutions at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: Normally works in an office setting with occasional trips to the field. Occasionally required to walk moderately long distances over rough terrain during normal fieldwork. Work Environment: Office work is accomplished in an adequately lighted and heated facility. When in the field, subject to injuries when walking in rough terrain and exposure to uncomfortable hot and cold temperatures. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
