Overview

Sugarloaf is looking for an experienced cook to join our team this summer at our signature 45 North Restaurant location as our Sous Chef. The role of a Sous Chef is to prepare food ensuring quality taste and presentation; to guide our kitchen team in the preparation of food items and execution of food items; and to help our Head Chef maintain a clean and organized kitchen. This position will primarily work mornings/evenings in the restaurant as this location is only open for breakfast and dinner and will assist with events as needed.

 

This position has the potential to become a full-time, year-round role for the right fit and could be eligible for benefits, seasonal bonus pay, and many other great job perks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food according to food handling guidelines, cooking procedures, and follow any recipes.
  • Prepare food ensuring quality taste and presentation.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations and be able to communicate food and product orders to Head Chef.   
  • Communicate and coordinate production with other cooks, wait staff and members of the food and beverage team.
  • Assisting Head Chef by taking on additional responsibilities in the Head Chef’s absence to ensure the kitchen staff has proper direction
  • Perform closing procedures including equipment maintenance and shut off, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Work with the team to complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Possess knowledge and become familiar with all kitchen equipment.
  • Observe and test foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with thermometer to determine proper preparation and cooking.


Qualifications

Candidates must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

 

Prior kitchen work experience is required for this role.
