Job Objective:
We are seeking a Maintenance Lead for the MPU Projects Team. We are looking for a skilled Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to join our team at the Milne Point Unit in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. This critical role supports our ongoing large-scale projects and the expansion of our operations, including drilling new wells with two rotary rigs and working over existing wells with the smaller ASR rig. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the planning, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems vital to our oil field operations. This position offers a rotation of 14 days on/14 days off, providing a balanced work-life schedule in one of the most challenging and rewarding environments in the oil industry.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Full scope project planning, review, and execution
- Install, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instruments and systems, including sensors, transmitters, final control elements, and sophisticated control systems.
- Proficiently utilize essential business software tools such as SharePoint, OneNote, Teams, and Project for the Web for effective planning, documentation, communication, and project management, while remaining adaptable and open to integrating new technologies and tools to enhance operational efficiency and team collaboration.
- Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on electrical equipment, power generation and distribution systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency in support of large-scale projects and drilling operations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within control systems, PLCs, and other automation components, particularly those associated with drilling and well workover activities.
- Calibrate and configure instrumentation to ensure accurate measurement and control, supporting the operational requirements of two rotary drilling rigs and an ASR rig for well workovers.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering teams, and project managers to optimize system performance, contribute to project success, and ensure seamless integration of new installations or modifications.
- Adhere to safety standards and regulatory compliance mandates specific to the oil industry in Alaska, with a focus on hazardous area classifications, lock-out/tag-out, and safe work practices in potentially explosive environments.
- Document, redline, and report maintenance activities thoroughly, including repairs, replacements, inspections, and project progress.
- Engage in safety meetings and training sessions, reinforcing the company's commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Fluent in NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and API RP 500 (Classification of Locations for Electrical Installations at Petroleum Facilities Classified as Class 1, Division 1, and Division 2).
Other Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to work a 14/14 rotational shift.
- Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.)

- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Preferred associate degree in electrical and/or Instrumentation, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of five years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics, one lines, wiring, logic, and diagrams, coupled with robust troubleshooting skills and proficiency in using electronic test equipment.
- Comfortable working with power systems operating up to 13.8kV.
- Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, drilling operations, well workovers, and the unique challenges associated with operations in the Alaskan oil fields.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to meet the company's driving standards are required. Candidates must also pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Outstanding communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within a team-oriented environment, especially under the challenging conditions typical of remote oil field operations.
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Licensed Electrician in the State of Alaska.
