As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector Infrastructure Platforms Team, you utilize strong knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Apply your technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies across multiple applications of moderate scope. You will use your knowledge of telecommunications to enable strategically important infrastructure projects across the firm.

Job responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the Network Telecom team, responsible for connectivity solutions that transport data between our data centers, cloud providers, corporate offices and retail branches
  • Oversees the entire lifecycle of telecom connectivity - design, implementation, maintain (tier 4) and decommission both individually and projects as whole
  • Collaborates with other network team members and business units to thoroughly understand their network connectivity requirements
  • Creates and presents high-level transport design and recommendation documents including technical and commercial aspects
  • Establishes and maintains good relationships with internal stakeholders and our Telecom partners by leading regular touch points and service reviews
  • Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems
  • Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
  • Considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications
  • Accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and proficient applied experience
  • Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
  • Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
  • Drives to develop infrastructure engineering knowledge of additional domains, data fluency, and automation knowledge
  • 5+ years' experience within the Telecommunications industry, preferably with a global tier 1 Telecommunications Service Provider or Hyperscaler in a Solution Engineer capacity.
  • Deep understanding of optical theory and Layer 1 and 2 transport technologies, including DWDM, OTN, MPLS and Dark Fiber
  • Knowledge of European, African, and Middle Eastern telecommunication providers, including both terrestrial and subsea
  • Experience in planning and implementing transport solutions specific to cloud connectivity
  • Broad knowledge of network and data center technologies including design and construction principles


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Project and Delivery Management experience, with both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Public Cloud certification a plus
  • Experience with IP networks, Network Function Virtualization and/or Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  • SD-WAN certification from Industry recognized organizations such as Versa Networks and Fortinet is desirable
  • Working within geographically dispersed teams
