Summary

To assist surgical team during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment for the operation, and in addition passing instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team.

Responsibilities*

Assist with:
  • Inventory
  • Sterilization of instruments
  • Preparation and selection of equipment for procedures
  • Transfer of patients as needed
  • Turnover of rooms
  • Turnover and transfer of instruments to CSR/Decontamination
  • Putting equipment back in place
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications*

Surgical Technologist Senior requirements:
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required.
  • Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent O.R. experience is required for placement at the Senior level.
  • Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to meet functional job requirements.
  • Demonstrated excellence in professional communication.
  • Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases.

Surgical Technologist Intermediate requirements:
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required.
  • Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Ambulatory surgery experience.
  • Ability to scrub Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
  • Adult Otolaryngology. Plastic, General, Urology, and Gynecological Surgery and VASCULAR.
  • Self motivated and excellent organization skills.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist certification program.


Work Schedule

This is for 1 position, 30 hours a week/ 10 hours, variable start time with Saturday Rotation.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
