THE ROLE

We are looking for an Out of Home Account Manager to work closely with the SVP, Out of Home & BBC News Commercial Development to maximise revenue and profits from the exploitation of the BBC Studios Channels / branded services within the Out of Home market and identify potential new partnership opportunities. The role involves account management as well as working towards building new relationships and expanding nascent relationships by concluding deals with Affiliates, Out of Home Distributors, OEM's and Content Service Providers (CSP's) globally as well as directly with OOH Customers eg. Hotels, Airlines, Cruise Ships, Airports, Trains and other commercial establishments. To help manage the negotiation and contracting process for new licensing and distribution deals for the BBC Studios channels and BBC News services to OOH Customers.

This role is a Paternity Cover until 4th October 2024.

Business Development:

  • Working closely with SVP - Out of Home to deliver our strategy for the BBC Studios Channels & BBC News services in the international OOH marketplace and identify potential new distribution partnership opportunities. This will be achieved by regular contact and meetings with representatives from relevant companies, close reading of trade and consumer press, updates with own list of business contacts, attendance at relevant trade events.
  • Provide expert account management for significant accounts with Affiliates, Hotel Groups, Cruise Lines, Airlines, Content Service Providers and other third party Distributors; forming relationships with key players and understanding and communicating their evolving needs.
  • Create regular reports to SVP Out of Home outlining relevant activities at potential or nascent distribution partner companies with recommendations for target activities.
  • Provide analysis of potential benefits of marketing and/or revenue driving activities under consideration, including possible positive and negative impacts on existing businesses. Compare proposed projects to agreed set of KPIs to inform decision making.
  • Negotiate deals and conclude contracts for new projects, working closely with Marketing, Legal team, Rights Management, Operations and Sales & Distribution teams as relevant.
  • Frequent international travel to stay abreast of developments in various markets and to tap into strategic commercial opportunities.
  • To unlock increased revenues through business development activity focussed on capitalising on emerging technologies and new trapped audience aggregators eg streaming platforms, connectivity providers, IPTV distributors. There are precedents for deal structures and overall strategy, but this is an arena, which is rapidly evolving as new technologies and business models emerge, requiring flexibility and pragmatism of approach.


Transactional Business Lead:

  • To meet and exceed annual gross revenue targets through management and fulfilment of distribution deals for branded services. The role will be supervised on a regular basis regarding fulfilment of account management outputs, but will be responsible for day to day operational activity and prioritisation.
  • Working closely with SVP - Out of Home, to create a framework for negotiations in the Out of Home space and to be aware of all existing agreements that might impact new sales, for example, affiliate distribution agreements in the regions.
  • Negotiate and bring to contract (with help of Legal) potential distribution deals including providing analysis of the value of all proposed deals.
  • Lead or support negotiations for distribution with new partners, and with existing Affiliates as deals expire or new deal terms are proposed in the market.
  • Work closely with the BBC Studios Global Media & Streaming Affiliates teams in EMEA as well as Global Operations, Marketing, Legal and Commercial Rights team.
  • Support and work alongside the existing OOH Account Managers.
  • Support other negotiations in the out of home arena as required.


Strategic Planning & Decision Making:
  • Provide in-depth market and financial analysis as needed to inform decision making around new business opportunities for branded services.
  • Create and iterate internal or external-facing presentations as required to support the work of the department.
  • Provide market information and feedback for purposes of reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Serve as in-house expert on the BBC Studios Channels marketplace in the Out of Home arena to support work of various teams as required.
  • Special projects as required to maximise commercial opportunities.

Professional Experience
  • An understanding of the Channels / Branded Services marketplace is preferred, with experience in an external facing TV, Out of Home or Digital Media environment also preferred.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships in the TV/Out of Home industries is preferred.
  • Strong deal making experience required, including negotiation and contract building.
  • Commercial, Sales and Business Development experience is required.
  • Managing accounts is required.


PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

Band: D
Salary: Up to £66,000 plus 25% bonus, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 4th October 2024
Location: London - Television Centre

Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (Mix of working from home plus two/three days a week in the office).
