This position is represented by the United Steel Workers, Local 4959 Union and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between WOA Hilcorp, LLC and the USW, Local 4959.
DEPARTMENT: WOA, Gathering Center #2, Prudhoe Bay, AK.
HOURS OF WORK: 2 Weeks on/2 weeks off
LOCATION: Gathering Center #2
Job Objective: Conducts instrumentation calibration, maintenance, and repairs. The position is charged with the integrity of the Gathering Center's process instrumentation used for Oil/Gas/Water separation and gas handling. This position is charged with the integrity of instruments used for life-safety and the protection of Gathering Center property, to ensure a safe, comfortable, operating environment.
Job Duties:
  • Supports product development and improvement by reviewing new product plans, discussing equipment needs and modifications, coordinating activities of Instrumentation and other workers.
  • Assists in the training of lower level employees on how to perform the duties. Assists plant operators, as needed.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Identifies current and future instrumental needs and requirements by establishing a rapport with management, engineering, production & maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures reliable production operations are maintained by determining work priorities to include but not limited to, scheduling, repairing, maintenance, and installation of instrumentation devices, tubing, drawings, redlines.
  • Maintain CASIS/SCAT testing equipment & documentation.
  • Maintain DOT/ADEC related devices, systems & documentation.
  • Maintain N2 manufacturing plant.
  • Process control and regulatory reporting in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Required working knowledge of Program Logic Controllers (PLC) and flow computers.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Working knowledge of electronic or pneumatic control valves.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and the public.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.


Education Requirements / Qualifications / Preferences

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • (5) years of journeyman Instrumentation experience in control system in an industrial plant/facility OR an Associate degree in Instrument/Electronic technology and two (2) years of industrial Instrumentation experience.
  • Able to travel and may be required to stay overnight for certain task and projects.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Required working knowledge of Program Logic Controllers (PLC) and flow computers.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Working knowledge of variable speed drives for electrical motors.
  • Working knowledge of electronic or pneumatic control valves.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and the public.

Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
