As a Forestry Crew Member, you’ll work alongside skilled professionals executing projects aimed to improve the health of our Sierra forest, build community wildfire resilience, and ease our landscape of excess fuels through progressive vegetation management. Crew Members operate chainsaws and other equipment in tree falling operations and material transport, prescribed burn operations, trail maintenance, forest stand restoration, and assist other Tahoe Donner departments as needed.

Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses a valid Class C Driver License, accompanied by a good driving record (records must meet the minimum standards required by TDA’s insurance carrier).
  • Previous experience working on a team, and a basic understanding of safe work practices.

 

The ideal candidate has the following:

 

  • Current CPR/AED/Basic First Aid medical certification or higher.
  • Previous experience falling and processing trees, using gas-powered chainsaws.
  • Previous experience operating tow behind chippers, tracked chippers, and/or other forestry related equipment.
