Here's a summary of responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Coaching Education, the Associate Director will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in teaching skills of coaches to the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) as directed by the USOPC Coaching Department. The Associate Director will serve as the Teach Program Director within the Coaching Education team, developing program strategy and curriculum for coaches. The Associate Director will assist with the leadership and management of operations, development, and deployment of the strategic vision of the department and programs within the Sport and Athlete Services Division.

Here's how you'll have an impact:

  • In collaboration with the Coaching team, prepare and execute the strategic vision for the Coaching Department. Advance the USOPC's role and standing in the professionalization of coaching by providing content and opportunities to support and produce world-class coaches.
  • Lead the strategic development and management of the Teach Program by developing coaching systems within the Coaching Department and across the USOPC and NGBs with measurable deliverables—track execution of the Teach Program with engagement strategies, development, delivery, and in-field work. Attend training camps, competitions, and or summits as necessary.
  • Perform "in-field" Apollo coaching duties, including actively observing and evaluating coaches during their daily training or competition environment. Provide critical and timely feedback for developing individualized and customized development opportunities.
  • Support and assist coaches in developing and demonstrating effective teaching and coaching practices, fostering a purposeful learning environment that engages athletes while expanding their knowledge, skills, and attributes to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Provide input towards all USOPC Coach Education programming for educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals and coach needs.
  • Contribute to developing USOPC Coach Education programming, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures as appropriate to the department and specifically for adult learners.
  • Provide input, leadership, and delivery of the strategic vision and projects as planned for the USOPC Coaching Education team to advance the profession, provision, and production of coaches at the Olympic, Paralympic, and foundational levels of sport.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge and training of leading principles and best practices in coaching education domestically and internationally. Attend training camps, competitions, and or summits as necessary. Share the latest research and insights with the Coaching department to improve services and resources for Team USA coaches.
  • Engage regularly with USOPC Sport Performance and NGs to ensure that national team coaches and their staff are supported and provided with the necessary support to aid their coach development initiatives.
    • Cultivate and maintain valuable working relationships within and outside of the Olympic and Paralympic movement to further explore and advance the Teaching skills of coaches.
    • Represent the USOPC Coaching Education department at National and International conferences and events.

    Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years of experience in education, coaching, sport performance, or management
    • Previous work experience in a National Sports Organization
    • Experience with Paralympic and/or Olympic sport
    • Background in sport-based learning practices and people development
    • Management of an education department or similar
    • Experience with Learning Management Systems
    • Proven successful leadership and teaching skills and experience
    • Adult learning theory, needs assessment, curriculum development, and evaluation
    • Emerging trends and best practices in education and professional development
    • Teaching methods, techniques, and styles
    • Exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
