About the organization

Volunteer Tennessee is the 25-member, bipartisan citizen commission appointed by the governor to oversee AmeriCorps programs, manage the Tennessee Serves Network, promote service-learning opportunities, and foster community service initiatives and partnerships in which people of all ages and backgrounds engage in addressing the educational, public safety, disaster preparedness, environmental, and other human needs in the Volunteer State.

Duties

Compliance 30%
-Implement compliance systems.
-Provide compliance training.
-Prepare federal grant closeouts.
-Develop and maintain staff process/procedures manual.
-Provide system improvements.

Sub-recipient Systems & Processes 30%
-Sub-recipient Monitoring
a. Assist in sub-grant monitoring: prepare monitoring reports; collect/review other deliverables necessary to assess compliance; and analyze findings to identify trends and recommend steps for improved performance.
b. Ensure timely monitoring resolution.
-Contract Management and Procurement
a. Develop contracts with subrecipients & outside vendors.
b. Ensure subrecipient compliance with Title VI & IX reporting requirements.
c. Coordinate semi-annual program compliance attestations.
d. Coordinate annual contract closeouts.

Volunteer Engagement 25%
-Statewide Volunteer Portal
a. Develop partnerships for statewide volunteer management portal.
b. Develop portal sub-license contracts.
c. Manage statewide portal listings.
d. Work with non-profits to develop local volunteer listings.
-Work with Foundations of Service Committee to implement Award of Excellence program.

Reporting 10%
-Coordinate Project Progress Reports for submission.
-Coordinate with Program Managers and Finance Office to prepare Federal Financial Reports.
-Respond to AmeriCorps requests for information.

Other 5%
-Manage interns as needed.
-Support commission Committees.
-Participate in state, regional, and nation

Qualifications

1. Graduation from accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in systems and process management required (State Service Commission experience preferred).
2. Understanding of principles and practices of basic accounting and financial management.
3. Understanding of principles and practices of volunteer management systems, project administration, and events planning and familiarity with state service commission and state administrative procedures.
4. Ability to develop and maintain high-level professional relationships and commitment to teamwork.
5. Ability to express oneself clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to problem-solve in a complex regulatory environment.
7. Ability to prioritize and get things done calmly in a fast-moving environment.
8. Ability to prepare and maintain detailed, accurate records, reports, and files.
9. Computer competency (word processing, spreadsheets, database, etc.).
