Position Overview:

As an Assistant Golf Professional at the private Burnt Pine Golf Club, located within the prestigious Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional golf experiences to our exclusive clientele. With your expertise as a PGA Level 2 professional, you will assist in various aspects of golf operations, including instruction, club fitting, tournament management, customer service, and administrative tasks. Your passion for golf, strong interpersonal skills, and commitment to delivering outstanding service will contribute to the success and reputation of Burnt Pine Golf Club.

Responsibilities:
  1. Golf Instruction:
    • Conduct individual and group lessons for golfers of all skill levels, focusing on improving their game and providing personalized feedback.
    • Develop lesson plans, instructional programs, and clinics to enhance the golfing abilities of members and guests.
    • Utilize advanced teaching techniques and the latest technology, such as launch monitors and video analysis, to enhance the learning experience.
  2. Club Fitting and Equipment:
    • Provide professional club fitting services to members and guests, recommending appropriate golf clubs, shafts, and accessories to optimize their performance.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in golf equipment technology and trends, and share this knowledge with customers.
  3. Tournament Management:
    • Assist in organizing and conducting golf tournaments and events, including member-guest tournaments, charity events, and corporate outings.
    • Coordinate with the golf shop staff, grounds crew, and food and beverage team to ensure smooth tournament operations.
    • Manage scoring, handicap calculations, and tournament result reporting.


  1. Customer Service:
    • Deliver exceptional customer service to members and guests, creating a welcoming and enjoyable golf experience.
    • Assist with tee time reservations, check-ins, and other administrative tasks at the golf shop.
    • Handle member and guest inquiries, address concerns, and resolve any issues in a professional and timely manner.
  2. Administrative Duties:
    • Assist with daily golf shop operations, including inventory management, merchandise displays, and point-of-sale transactions.
    • Maintain accurate records of lesson schedules, golf club fittings, and tournament registrations.
    • Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to promote golf programs and events.

    • Candidates should be proficient with Golf Genius Tournament Programming.
    • Coordinate with the golf shop staff, grounds crew, and food and beverage team to ensure smooth tournament operations.
    • Manage scoring, handicap calculations, and tournament result reporting.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Deliver exceptional customer service to members and guests, creating a welcoming and enjoyable golf experience.
    • Assist with tee time reservations, check-ins, and other administrative tasks at the golf shop.
    • Handle member and guest inquiries, address concerns, and resolve any issues in a professional and timely manner.
  3. Administrative Duties:

    • Strong knowledge and daily use of Microsoft Office programs to include: Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Maintain accurate records of lesson schedules, golf club fittings, and tournament registrations.
    • Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to promote golf programs and events.
  4. Golf Instruction:
    • Conduct individual and group lessons for golfers of all skill levels, focusing on improving their game and providing personalized feedback.
    • Develop lesson plans, instructional programs, and clinics to enhance the golfing abilities of members and guests.
    • Utilize advanced teaching techniques and the latest technology, such as launch monitors and video analysis, to enhance the learning experience.
  5. Club Fitting and Equipment:
    • Provide professional club fitting services to members and guests, recommending appropriate golf clubs, shafts, and accessories to optimize their performance.

Requirements:
  • PGA Level 2 certification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Golf Genius programming, tournament operations, rules of golf, techniques, and etiquette.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience in providing golf instruction to players of various skill levels.
  • Proficiency in club fitting and the ability to recommend appropriate equipment.
  • Familiarity with golf-related technology and software, such as launch monitors and handicap systems.

Physical Requirements:
  • Stamina and Endurance: The position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around the golf course. Assistant Golf Professionals should have the physical stamina and endurance to handle the physical demands of the job, including walking long distances and being on their feet for extended periods.
  • Golf Skills: As a PGA Level 2 professional, you should possess a high level of golf skills and proficiency. This includes having the physical ability to demonstrate and perform golf techniques, swings, and shots as needed during lessons, clinics, and club fitting sessions.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Assistant Golf Professionals may need to lift and carry heavy golf bags, equipment, and merchandise. This can include loading and unloading golf carts, moving golf bags, and assisting with the transportation of equipment or supplies. Strength and the ability to handle moderate lifting are important.
  • Outdoor Work: Golf is primarily played outdoors, so Assistant Golf Professionals should be comfortable working in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, and rainy environments. This includes being exposed to sunlight for extended periods, so sun protection, hydration, and appropriate clothing are important considerations.
  • Mobility and Flexibility: Good mobility and flexibility are important for performing golf-related tasks such as swinging clubs, bending down to retrieve golf balls, and assisting with equipment setup. Maintaining flexibility through regular stretching and exercise can help prevent injuries and enhance performance.
  • Communication Skills: While not directly physical, effective communication is essential in the role of an Assistant Golf Professional. Clear verbal and non-verbal communication with golfers, staff, and management is necessary for providing instructions, guidance, and exceptional customer service.
