Job summary

You will be part of the leading research franchise and work within a truly global economics team. You will make a substantial contribution in a fast-paced environment, helping to analyse market-moving economic issues facing the Euro area and broader European economy.

As an Associate or Vice President within the European Economic Research Team, your main focus will be to support our efforts covering the Euro area economy and EU policy.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with the Euro area economics team in its analysis of the Euro area economy
  • Work with the Chief European economist on broader thematic pieces about Europe
  • Build, update and streamline country and regional databases and analytical tools with rigorous attention to detail
  • Compile, develop and update chart books for client presentations


Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Advanced degree in economics
  • Excellent knowledge of economic principles and statistics/econometrics
  • Excellent ability to work with spreadsheets and data
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex information and ideas, including to non-specialists
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently on research projects and generate insights
  • Ability to work as a team-player in an international environment


Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Some economics-related work experience would be desirable (e.g., as a researcher at a think tank, central bank, ministry of finance, or financial institution)
  • Knowledge of European Romance languages, such as Italian, would be a plus.


This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
