As a Business Risk and Controls Associate in the control management team, you will play an essential role in leading the 1st line of defence to maintain a strong and consistent control environment. You will be responsible for supporting the business through Risk identification, Control Design, Control Testing and Issue Management, focused on our Banking Operations processes. You will partner with the business to create innovative solutions to manage risk and improve the customer experience, ensuring that the appropriate controls are embedded in the relevant business processes and customer journeys.

Job responsibilities:

  • Engages with stakeholders to evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business' operational risk and control environment to identify significant control gaps, weaknesses and resolutions in order to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance controls and processes, making them more effective and efficient over time
  • Identifies risks and issues and successfully navigate through to completion
  • Sets the career on Auto-Grow by overlaying your self-cultivated technology, process management and operational risk skills to support the development of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) environment including operational controls libraries
  • Reviews and analyzes program-related data frames (e.g., KRIs/KPIs) to proactively identify existing and emerging operational risks to business-related programs and strategies
  • Partners effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and Control programs including Control Committees, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, control design and performance evaluation


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance
  • Working knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners
  • Developing understanding of the EMEA / Germany banking industry and regulatory environment
  • Ability to understand a process and associated risks in order to design effective controls, solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills, ability to analyze data-driven situations to support the formulation of appropriate conclusions
  • Clear and concise write-up of risks, issues, root causes, remediation's, risk mitigants and control enhancements
  • Self-reliance and willingness to "own" problems and creatively find solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Fluency in English


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Financial Crime / Fraud management experience
  • Experience working and efficiently delivering in an information technology area / environment (E.g. IT Auditing, Programming Controls, Data Management and Governance or the like)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • German nice to have
