GENERAL SUMMARY Works under the supervision of the Manager of CT. The CT Technologist's primary job function is to perform a variety of procedures utilizing CT equipment following established guidelines and protocols of the department. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma required Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology required Completion of an approved CT course required, -or- ARRT(CT) registry required Licensure: Ohio(R) required ARRT(R) required ARRT(CT) registry eligible required (completion of registry within one year of hire required) BLS within 90 days of hire required Kentucky(R) Required if applicable Experience: Six months experience in computed tomography with familiarity in scanning, techniques, interventional procedures and computer functions preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Effectively supports the SOMC mission honoring the dignity and worth of each person. Ability to develop positive interaction and communication with patients, patient families, physicians, and co-workers regarding patient conditions. Maintaining a positive and professional attitude when going about your duties. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Hand/eye coordination in order to perform examination using complex equipment. Ability to speak clearly to communicate with patients, patient families, physicians, and co-workers regarding patient conditions. Essential Physical Requirements: Ability to maneuver equipment, and patients for examinations. Physical demand is medium, occasionally carrying 50 pounds. May transport patients weighing up to 350 pounds with assistance. Essential Mental Requirements: Must be able to analyze and manipulate numbers and percentages. Ability to work independently and work with/without assistance from other personnel. Ability to explain procedures to patients. Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to utilize sight, sound, and feeling to perform procedures/examinations. Exposure to Hazards: Exposure to hazards includes, but is not limited to; radiation and sharps. Other: N/A JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Identifies, greets and prepares patients for their procedure/examination. Assess provider's order, completes appropriate medical history, and reviews previous studies prior to exam. Performs venipuncture in preparation for the administration of Intravenous Contrast material. Performs appropriate procedures/examinations for all provider orders according to CT department protocols or special requests as approved by the Radiologist. Works with Central Scheduling, physicians' offices, and nursing personnel to schedule patients. Maintains department stock, cleanliness of work area and equipment Performs required Quality Assurance activities. Operates CT scanner to visualize pathologies and manipulates data to obtain optimal images. Performs other duties as assigned. Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture. This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFU's
