Role Summary

This role is responsible for executing the strategy for HR Compliance at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As a people leader, the Manager HR Compliance leads and establishes priorities for the team to manage Affirmative Action Programs (AAP), Equal Employment Opportunity Act (EEO), Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), Federal, State and local employment laws, and the company’s HR policies and controls.

Key Duties

  • Lead team responsible for HR Compliance strategy and efforts for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

  • Stay up to date on employment laws, regulations, and guidelines and share information with stakeholders to ensure awareness and compliance. Involve outside resources as needed.

  • Develops Affirmative Action Plans and EEO strategy including policies and procedures. Evaluate their effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.

  • Interact with internal and external agencies to provide requested information and respond to audit notifications and reporting requirements in compliance with deadlines.

  • Analyze potential compliance failures and recommend and implement corrections, auditing and modifying processes and procedures as needed.

  • Partner with HR colleagues to ensure consistency in policy/process/program frameworks and implementation in functional areas.

  • Anticipate and prepare for emerging legal or regulatory changes that may impact company business practices.

  • Maintain updated employee policies and procedures annually and as needed.

  • Ensures that EEO-1, VETS-4212, airport specific reports, Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, and other required reports are completed.

  • Prepare responses to agency inquiries in the event of an audit (e.g., EEOC and OFCCP).

  • Develop team through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation, encouraging stretch assignments, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in human resources with a focus on compliance program management or administration.

  • 2 years of experience with direct people leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR compliance related responsibilities.

  • Ability to work on complex projects with minimal guidance.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, time management skills.

  • Training experience in mid to large size groups.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to build and maintain business partnerships and communicate in a collaborative way across functions and teams.

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and problem resolution.

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Juris Doctor degree.

  • Human resources certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR).

  • Experience with a unionized workforce.

Salary Range

$108,200 - $167,800 / year
