Job Description:

The Fuel Operations Auditor invests in our Purpose by performing risk-based fuel audits of Southwest’s vendor’s fuel handling, processes, procedures, and capabilities. This role works closely with city managers, the fuel operations business, and various workgroups throughout the Company. The Fuel Operations Auditor is a skilled communicator and strategic thinker who is excited about the opportunity to ensure the highest level of fuel operations Safety, quality assurance, and compliance with Federal Regulations, industry standards, and Southwest Airlines policies. 

 
Additional Details:  

  • This role is offered as a regional workplace position and Employees must work in the region they support. This could require working from a mix of on-site Company facilities and remote based offices to perform the job function in a regional location determined by business need. Each Department will provide Employees with guidance on when and where presence is required with as much notice as reasonably possible.

  • Please note, while this is a regional position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, Delaware, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. 

  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Responsibilities
  • Audit and evaluate potential new fuel supply/service vendor's facilities, equipment, and manpower
  • Prepare and maintain detailed audit reports of compliance and/or noncompliance with Southwest Airlines Fuel Quality Program
  • Assist with revisions and updates to the Southwest Airlines Fueling and Fuel Quality Manual
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled quality assurance audits/inspections of Company vendors fuel handling processes, procedures, and capabilities
  • Assist in developing, implementing and managing the fuel quality programs and procedures for Southwest Airlines at all stations (domestic and international), including fuel vendors
  • Assist with revisions and updates to the Southwest Airlines Fueling and Fuel Quality Manual
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Skilled in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
    • Aviation fuel operations, including, but not limited to: into-plane fueling services, fuel storage/terminal facilities, refined product pipelines and quality assurance
    • Performing program and system audits/evaluations
    • Technical writing, including, but not limited to: comprehensive audit/environmental/safety reports, operations and training manuals, memos, specifications and operational procedures
  • Preferred experience with commercial fueling, oil and gas, quality assurance, quality control, and/or airport auditing 

  • Preferred knowledge of Quickbase 

Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (80%).
