About the location:
A secluded oasis at the edge of an idyllic lagoon! On the east coast of Mauritius, lapped by turquoise waters perfect for water sports, our relaxing Resort is filled with lush greenery and dramatic views everywhere you turn. Each stylish villa and residence feature its own private garden and pool - just like the home for the Resort's resident giant tortoises. After a day exploring the Indian Ocean or playing unlimited golf at both our Ernie Els-designed course and Bernhard Langer signature course, unwind at our award-winning Spa and raise a glass at one of our exciting dining venues. Mauritius is teeming with opportunities for your next day's adventures. This beautiful resort opened in October 2008, and has 90 one-bedroom villas, 1 Presidential Suite, 45 two-to-five-bedroom residential villas, 5 stunning Food and Beverage venues in addition to managing an off-property beach bar/restaurant, an award-winning over water Spa, 2 tennis courts and a fitness center.

Purpose

The Resort Manager is part of a diverse and dynamic team that provides award-winning service to our valued guests. This leader will provide leadership for all operational management team and will be responsible for delivering the highest level of service in terms of guest experience, and establishing a top performance work culture, with a strong focus on Elite Guest. In partnership with the General Manager, represents the hotel to civic, business, industry and local government.

Essential Functions

  • The ability to coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the hotel.
  • The ability to attend and regularly lead Planning Committee meetings and events,
  • The ability to receive General Manager delegation for the coordination of Planning Committee business priorities delivery and output quality.
  • The ability to monitor and review the daily revenue report, the daily labor report and the monthly profit and loss statement, analyze results and take action when necessary.
  • The ability to conduct regular tours of the hotel and make recommendations for changes as well as note deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • The ability to meet on a regular basis with all managers, supervisor , and non-management employees.
  • The ability to monitor all standards in the hotel to ensure they are in place and enforced.
  • The ability to control all capital expenditures and ensures the proper guidelines are adhered to and projects are completed on a timely basis.
  • The ability to conduct and or participate in the performance review of all Planning Committee members and the development of any manager assigned as a mentee.
  • Meet with the Human Resources Director on a regular basis to review staffing requests, morale, disciplinary situations, and hotel employees. Able to aid in the development of existing personnel and assist in the recruitment of new employees.
  • Conduct weekly Operations meetings to discuss operational challenges and opportunities and to improve or maintain an excellent communication flow.
  • Control expenses through actively participating in all areas of the hotel operation.
  • Review and sign all purchase requests, orders and checks to ensure adherence to corporate purchasing procedures.
  • Attend functions, social and/or business, to help develop a rapport and to establish credibility within the local community.
  • Ensure facility is exceptionally well maintained from both housekeeping and engineering standpoints.
  • Develop profit improvement ideas, policies and procedures and implement them with approval of the General Manager.


  • Ensure all Four Seasons Hotel Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Assist in ensuring that all areas of the hotel are appropriately staffed to handle demand periods and that staff are well trained, polite and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • Assume authority of General Manager in his/her absence.
  • Respond appropriately in the event of any hotel emergency or safety situation and comply with all local codes and ordinances with a focus on guest and employee safety.
  • Maintain a solid working relationship with the Hotel Owners and participate in Owner's meetings.
  • Implement action plans to correct problems identifies in Operations Standards Surveys ( e.g. Richey and Employee Opinion Surveys)
  • Educate Department Managers and Assistants on an on-going basis as to cost controls and the financial performance of the hotel.
  • Actively participate in all appropriate operations committees such as Energy Conservation Program, Safety Committees, and Recycling.
  • Personally meet and interact with guests, review all written guest comments and follow up on any guest service issues or needs.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs such as "Perfect Room" initiative.
  • Directly supervise at a minimum the Director of Rooms and Director of Food and Beverage.
  • Assume the role of Hotel Spokesperson in the absence of the General Manager in any emergency or crisis situation .
  • Coordinate preparation go timely and accurate forecasts with Sales and Marketing, Food and Beverage and Rooms and Engineering.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the General Manager or Four Seasons Home Office.


Leadership Requirements

General

  • Previous Resort/Hotel Manager with a strong Food & Beverage background to support GM in high visibility resort with all operational components.
  • Individual with high energy and personality that will bring extensive knowledge, creativity and flair to the hotel operations and the team.
  • Resort experience is a plusgiven the hotel's unique location and business mix.
  • Able to evidence strong work ethic. A true role model of Evolve Leadership Behaviors, an inspirational and motivational leader with excellent emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to develop Operational PC leads for career growth and next steps while influencing operational excellence in hotel through divisional and department head performance.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional experiences in the post COVID era in a market with considerablecompetitive supply growth.
  • Presence in the operation will be critical to build engagement with staff, customers, and residents.
  • Project management and construction experience is advantageous to navigate short and long-term operational project initiatives.
  • Ability to recognize and adapt to the fast-paced hotel operation.
  • Leadership skills to maintain the balance between owner/operator.
  • Pro-active influencer of future direction of business, vision and product of the hotel.
  • Impeccable follow up skills.

  • Emotionally intelligent leader able to connect with staff at all levels is essential to attracting and retaining talent.

  • Passion for product and service innovation are necessary in support of performance targets. Key to this will be elevating guest experience through creative programming while maintaining service standards and consistency.
  • Ability to relate to younger demographic including successful tech leaders and entrepreneurs.

  • Strong business acumen is essential for developing trust and support from ownership.
  • Creativity to findand deliver on new revenue opportunities.
  • Ability to collaborate with Ownership to align Ownership's and Four Seasons goals and principles.
  • The ability to manage through controlling operating & labor expenses without compromising guest and employee experience.
  • A demonstrated skill to interpret and analyze financial reports and take necessary actions.


Education

College degree preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or business administration

Experience

  • Experience are required to have five to seven years' experience with a diversity of leadership positions in operations.
  • Solid experience as a Division Head or above in a Luxury Hotel or Resort
  • Very strong background in Food and Beverage management, current with latest R&B concepts trends and development of new outlets, renovations, creations, outlets styling updates, menu design and performance optimisation .


Skills and Abilities

  • Very strong organizational skills and workflow management experience
  • Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to read and speak and write English,
  • Understand and familiar with quality standards and service standards of resort.
  • Reasonable cost analysis and cost management skills.
  • Strong sense of style, luxury, and global lifestyle trends
