About the organization

BASIS Charter Schools hire Subject Experts, and we give them the freedom to teach! We also hire Student Affairs/non-teaching staff to support our students, academically and socioemotionally. Our robust, world-class curriculum provides unlimited teaching opportunities. All teachers hold a bachelor's degree or higher, and completed coursework in the subject they teach. Many have related professional experience in their field of study. Teacher certification is not required. Each SET specializes in their own area of interest. We provide the "blueprint" or topics to cover for each course. Then, we let the experts teach with creativity and autonomy. BASIS.ed trains SETs in the BASIS Charter School model, and teachers are mentored and supported at the school and network levels. SETs have opportunities to also lead student clubs, coach sports, propose electives, and advise Senior Research Projects.

Duties

BASIS Baton Rouge Materra Campus - Home of the Gators is seeking qualified candidates for a 3rd Grade Elementary Teacher to start ASAP!

As a BASIS.ed Elementary Learning Expert Teacher, you are able to use your expertise in learning to address the differentiated needs of your students. Through the collaboration with you, the Subject Expert Teachers handle the main instruction in the classes, so you aren't preparing multiple lessons every day. This allows you to truly focus on the individual results and needs of your students so you can raise their ability to learn.

LETs Role in our Co-Teaching Model:

BASIS Elementary Teachers are knowledgeable, passionate and believe in transforming education. Our K-3 (or K-4, depending on campus location) classrooms are co-taught with not one, but two elementary school teachers co-creating with students at all times. Our Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) cultivate a joyful learning culture where hard work is celebrated and where intellectual pursuits result in an extraordinary.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree.
A valid fingerprint clearance and/or satisfactory applicable state background check
Demonstrated passion for student achievement and directed effort to raise individual student outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as an elementary educator
Strong communication skills
Open to new ideas in teaching methods
