Driving along California's Highway 395 on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Mammoth Mountain is impossible to miss: its 11,053 foot summit dominates the skyline as the highway moves from desert to forest. One look at Mammoth any time between October and June will be explanation enough for Mammoth's claim to skiing fame: the mountain gets an average of 385 inches of snow per year. The ski resort offers epic skiing and riding on 3500 acres of incredibly varied terrain, with 30 lifts and three terrain parks. Mammoth also operates June Mountain, a smaller "boutique" resort about 20 miles north of Mammoth, as well as a number of other recreational and loging facilities: Mammoth Mountain Bike Park, Sierra Star Golf Club, Tamarack Lodge and Resort, Mammoth Snowmovile Adventures, Mammoth Mountain Inn, and Juniper Springs and Sunstone Lodges. Located southeast of Yosemite National Park, the town of Mammoth Lakes is a four-season destination equally known for its fishing, golfing, hiking, backpacking and cultural events. The friendly community, with a year-round population of about 7,000, welcomes employees from all over the world every winter season. In Mammoth, the unspoiled splendor of the Sierra is your back yard - it just doesn't get any better than this!
