FLEET SUPERINTENDENT

As part of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, Oceanex Inc. is Atlantic Canada’s leader in intermodal transportation.  Oceanex operates two ice-class Ro-Ro vessels and one ice-class container vessel, and will be expanding the fleet over the coming year. We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Superintendent to join our Vessel Management team in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The Fleet Superintendent is responsible for the daily operational readiness of the vessels. The successful candidate will assist with policy development and implementation, provide hands-on direction to line personnel on technical issues, and oversee ships’ management. Further responsibilities will include overseeing maintenance and safety of the vessels, fleet compliance with respect to all required standards, analysis of vessel operations, recommendation and implementation of corrective action as required, budget development and cost control.

Qualifications

Ø  Certified Chief Engineer

Ø  Previous experience as a Shore Base Superintendent

Ø  Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities

Ø  Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ø  In-depth understanding of ship operations and awareness of marine industry issues

Ø  Computer literate

Ø  Bilingualism would be an asset

This is a shore-based position but does require the flexibility to travel.
