Staff Nurse (Temp) (University Hospital-Operating Room)

Job Summary

This job opening is for five Unit-Based Temporary RN positions in the UH Operating Room.

* Please note that these positions do not qualify for UMHS benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level. These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union.

Responsibilities*

Scrub and circulate in operating rooms assigned under the clinical supervision of a Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Manager as appropriate. To rotate shift and accept call as assigned by Clinical Manager/Nurse Manager. To assist in the teaching activities of the OR.

Required Qualifications*

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.

Recent RN Operating Room experience.

Ability to work with a non-responsive patient population.

Demonstrated ability to handle stress, conflict and resolution.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team member.

Call commitment with 30 minute response time.

* Unit-based temporary nurses are to be scheduled after all regular staff are scheduled per contract language.
* Managers may establish additional guidelines based upon individual unit scheduling requirements
