POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the effective administration of company and departmental policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws as it relates to FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, Long Term Disability (LTD) and other leave of absence issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Primary responsibilities will include the administration of intermittent/block FMLA and PCL, ADA, Workers Compensation, LTD and other leave of absence issues - Manages flight attendants while on leave of absence - Conducts internal investigations regarding workers compensation claims - Acts as a liaison between insurance carrier, risk management, attorneys, panel physicians, nurse case managers, human resources, corporate safety, union, and employees - Makes decisions on approving medical leaves for flight attendants - Documenting and/or administering appropriate disciplinary counseling to flight attendants as required (disciplinary letters, corrective action, termination, and issuing direct work orders) - Recommends procedure, policy, manual and training enhancements based on knowledge and experience - Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information - Monitoring flight attendant lost time including attendance and LOA - Monitors salary continuance/input occupational injury claims and reinstate workers compensation settlements - Manages time sensitive medical documentation to ensure proper status changes and operational coverage - Conducts research as needed - Attends unemployment hearings/depositions - Provides support to employees through continued communication and follow-up to questions and paperwork - Participates in special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS: - Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/training to reach a combination of college and experience with an airline in an airport environment and/or customer service environment equal to 3 years, OR 2 years experience as an active flight attendant, OR 3 years experience working in a position with a close relationship to Inflight Services - 1 2 years supervisory experience - Knowledge of airline policies/procedures, union agreement, and flight attendant duties/responsibilities preferred - Possess an ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences - Exceptional interpersonal skills - Must be self-motivated with demonstrated initiative, capable of working with minimal supervision, independently and as a team member - Strong organizational skills and decision making skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Willingness to travel and work an irregular schedule
