Our newly renovated and expanded YMCA is seeking an experienced YMCA leader to work with our Vice President of Branch Operations to continue to offer high quality activities to meet the needs of the community.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Branch Operations, the Associate Executive Director will be responsible to manage the day to day operations of the Ott YMCA in conjunction with or in the absence of the VP of Branch Operations. The Associate Exec. will be engaged with Program Directors/Coordinators in the planning, promotion, evaluation, supervision, and administration of the following departments: Member Services, Child Watch, Aquatics, Health and Well-Being, Facilities, Adult and Youth Sports, and Childcare. The Associate Exec. will also be required to participate in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations and collaborations with community agencies. This is an exempt position not limited to 40 hours a week and may entail morning, evening, and weekend work.
The Associate Executive Director must demonstrate strong skills in supervision, program management, and fiscal management with the ability to work with people at varying levels. The incumbent must possess a strong knowledge of program development, membership, facility operations, and general knowledge of YMCA program offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates the desire and ability to build relationships with health seekers, staff, and volunteers of all ages. Communicates with supervisor, staff, members, guest, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First Skills (uses open ended questions when appropriate). Understands and supports the Activate America Initiative (Health Innovation) that our YMCEstablishes with the branch leadership team long range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives.
- Develops and implements high quality member engagement and retention strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies. In conjunction with Metropolitan office support, the Associate Executive Director will implement branch marketing and communication efforts using the Y voice.
- Provides staff support for assigned committees and departments. Provides staff leadership for branch annual support campaign. Will assist directors/coordinators in developing and monitoring department budgets.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers in accordance with Human Resource guidelines and procedures. Reviews and evaluates staff performance annually or more frequently as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations to the Vice President of Branch Operations.
- In conjunction with the Health and Well-Being Director and Building Engineer, the Associate Exec. will ensure the maintenance of facilities of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, and cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met. The incumbent will need to follow risk management and safety procedures as recommended by YMCA of the USA and the Redwoods Group in accordance with Association policies and procedures.
- Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA. Will attend, participate, and lead staff meetings as requested by the VP of Branch Operations.

- The visual and auditory ability to identify risk management issues in and around the facility.

- The ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds for 75 feet.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or a related field, or equivalent.
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, membership and marketing, and program development.
- Ability to give direction in a diplomatic yet authoritative manner.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 90 days of hire.
