Under the direction of the Managing Director of Sports Medicine, the Sports Medicine Medical Network Manager is accountable for the development, organization, direction, and overall success of the Medical Network. He/she will support the Managing Director of Sports Medicine in developing and leading the implementation of strategic, business, programmatic, outreach, and marketing plans to drive USOC Medical Network growth and quality.

The position aligns and monitors capital and operational budgets for the Medical Network to meet or exceed business plan goals, and determines cost-effective use of available resources.  The position is accountable for assessing growth opportunities among existing services using data-driven analysis and for identifying future opportunities as technology, outreach, marketing, delivery practices, and market demand evolve over time. The position is accountable for defining, monitoring, implementing, and achieving specific outcome-based service, access, and quality goals for the Medical Network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functions include, but are not limited to:

  1. Prepares annual budgets for Medical Network. Is accountable for achieving budget targets to achieve financial goals for USOC.  Tracks progress in implementing activities and takes corrective action as needed to meet established goals. Establishes financial scorecard for the Medical Network to encompass all services across the continuum, and is held accountable for overall performance.
  2. Responsible for Medical Network functions assuring quality of care, financial acumen, access, customer service, Healthcare provider, and maintaining patient satisfaction at the highest level through the integration and implementation of capital resources and services into the USOC organization's structure in cooperation with Managing Director of Sports Medicine, executive leadership and peers.
  3. Develops, maintains and improves contractual, joint venture and associate arrangements with related providers for optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction.  Recommends capital budget, labor, overhead, and materials/supplies in order to develop, maintain, and improve services.
  4. Directs and participates in the completion of business plans and financial analysis to support recommended strategies and opportunities within the multi-specialty Medical Network platform to include understanding the complex nature of developing and maintaining a healthcare delivery platform.
  5. Establishes, assesses and maintain third-party payer networks and relationships as directed. Understand quality parameters, core measures, value based purchasing and third party reimbursement models
  6. Understands and promotes use of quality measures related to USOC Medical Network as they relate to responsibilities and targets to benchmark indicators of superior performance.
  7. Develops and implements process improvement activities consistent with USOC Medical Network goals and objectives.
  8. Identifies strategies to improve performance.  Sets targets and time frames for achieving same.  Reports progress  to Managing Director of Sports Medicine, utilizing a dashboard approach.
  9. Provides for monitoring and evaluating the quality outcome measures of patient care delivery and clinical performance.
  10. Ensures that identified Medical Network issues are resolved and customer satisfaction is maintained and improved.
  11. Maintains positive working relationships with, and keeps informed of activities, the Managing Director of Sports Medicine, executive leadership, and peers.
  12. Assures communication, cooperation, and collaboration between and among all functional areas.  Responsible for promoting continuity of care and understanding/follow through concerning regulatory standards as well as operational efficiency and effectiveness leading to Medical Network providers and athlete satisfaction.
  13. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with Medical Network providers, relevant National Governing Bodies (NGB), alliances, public health resources and associations, and other referral sources to impact health and sports performance status improvement related to athlete services.
  14. Develops a positive working relationship with the staff and leadership of USOC and relevant medical services in planning and implementing  Medical Network initiatives.
  15. Oversees the Medical Network in regards to utilizing the appropriate personnel to coordinate all services across the full continuum of care in order to monitor and reduce duplication of efforts, streamline processes, improve customer satisfaction and assure regulatory compliance.
  16. Facilitates patient/athlete flow; handles complaints delegated by Managing Director of Sports Medicine; looks for ways to enhance access, comfort, convenience and speed of the delivery of services. Oversees Medical Network marketing and outreach activities to grow and enhance service and access.
  17. Core customer service and relations competencies include responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of Internal Customers and External Customers.
  18. Abides by rules of confidentiality, holding medical and other sensitive information in strict confidence.
  19. Annually reviews and demonstrates ethical business practices and personal actions and adherence to USOC Corporate Compliance, Standards of Conduct, and the Code of Ethics.
  20. Demonstrates Standards of Performance in daily interactions.  Role models behaviors of respect, communication, appearance, caring and responsibility with athlete/patients, co-workers, NGBs, Medical Network providers, and other customers.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education

  • Master's or advanced degree in Health Care Administration, MBA, or business in a healthcare  related field.


Experience

  • At least 3 years of progressive administrative experience in area of specialization, to include implementation of health services, systems and technologies.
  • At least 3 years previous healthcare management experience. Must possess demonstrated management skills including outstanding written and verbal communication; team building; business program planning; organizational market assessment; outreach and business development skills.
  • At least  2 years of experience in the development and implementation of third party payer processes.


Skills

  • Excellent communication and human relations skills to include experience communicating with physicians, medical staff, healthcare partners, and other customers related to sports medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
  • Excellent written and communication skills; conflict management; emotional intelligence; planning; budgeting; goal setting; implementing action plans.
