Basic Purpose of Job: Insight Network Logistics (INL) is currently accepting applications for a student internship position in their Supply Chain Analysis & Engineering department. The Network Analysis & Engineering (NAE) team is responsible for providing professional analysis and evaluation of supply chain performance for INL's internal and external customers. The NAE team acts as the business consulting arm of the organization and is responsible for conducting research on strategic logistics issues, evaluating supply chain performance, and establishing strategic priorities that will allow INL and its customers to meet their operational objectives. Summer internships are available for undergraduate students currently enrolled in their junior year.
Project Description: The Intern will support INL in the creation of a logistics ramp profile database and a comprehensive visual map of Chrysler's North American finished vehicle operations. Intern will be responsible for creating a comprehensive visual map using MapPoint software to represent current Chrysler rail ramp locations in North America. In the course of the research required to create the map, the Intern will create a repository database of rail ramp information. This will include the carrier(s) servicing each ramp, ramp layout and capacity, inventory flow, and network velocity. The Intern will be expected to use a variety of methods for obtaining data, including Internet searches, and calling and emailing carriers, Chrysler and internal employees. This will be a summer internship starting in May or June and ending in August. A presentation of results to upper management will be required at conclusion of the project.
Preferred Education, Training, Experience or Skills: • College credits equivalent to two years towards an undergraduate degree preferrably currently enrolled as junior status in a Supply Chain Logistics program • Proficient communication skills excellent written and verbal communication skills • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills • Proficient planning and organizational skills
