Decision Support Operations Research Analyst

Summary Of Duties:

The Decision Support Operations Research Analyst provides data querying and analytics expertise, operations research expertise, and business analytics support to the Pricing and Revenue Management department. The position is responsible for building mathematical models, designing and developing intranet-based reporting solutions, and maintaining data availability and accuracy. This position is also responsible for developing tools and processes to implement revenue management concepts/techniques and improve revenue management practices, while ensuring day to day availability and accuracy of applications. Work efforts are coordinated with IT personnel when necessary to effect changes.

The position is responsible for analyzing ridership, revenue, and capacity data and helping the Pricing and Revenue Management group identify areas where revenue opportunities exist. In addition, this position is responsible for analyzing proposed revenue and capacity strategies and quantifying their impact to future ridership and revenue.

The position is also responsible for developing tools and processes to implement revenue management strategies and to improve existing revenue management practices using intranet-based reporting solutions.

Responsibilities also include building mathematical models and maintaining data availability and accuracy. Work efforts are coordinated with IT personnel when necessary to effect changes.

Education:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research or other quantitative discipline.

Preffered Education:

Master’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Operations Research/Industrial Engineering.

Work Experience:

• Must have experience in advanced statistical analysis using SAS. Experience in forecasting, multivariable, and stochastic analysis. Experience in data mining. Experience in market analysis, market research, Knowledge of pricing and revenue management concepts.
• Relevant work experience in the transportation industry.
• Experience in designing, developing, and testing automated systems.
• Experience with data presentation tools and developing written presentations
• Experience with a programming language (such as Visual Basic, C#, C++, or Java)
• Experience with a database system (such as Microsoft SQL or Oracle)
• Experience with data warehouse applications, such as Business Objects
