The Bartender position is responsible for providing great guest service by mixing quality cocktails, pouring a proper draft and decanting wine to achieve the best taste. A friendly and professional attitude is required to be a bartender in Yellowstone, as well as attention to detail and service!
Bartenders wear uniforms provided by the company. Employees must bring their own black leather, closed-toe, non-skid shoes.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Food and Beverage Manager on duty.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
- Accurately record and enter all food (where applicable) and beverage items in the Aloha POS system; produce, pick up, garnish and serve food and beverages promptly to guests; collect and process forms of payment; ensuring guest satisfaction throughout.
- Knowledge of all beverage menus, brand selections, prices and garnishes.
- Knowledge of general guest information.
- Maximize sales by using menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques. Motivate and educate staff in up-selling and wine salesmanship. Ensure established standards of beverage service are met.
- Offer and serve alcoholic beverages while adhering to to established Xanterra alcohol policies.
- Conduct self in a professional manner with the awareness that all actions and communications are within guest view. Ensure a congenial atmosphere for all.
- Maintain cleanliness of lounge and service areas. Ensure work area is orderly and properly stocked.
- Complete assigned duties within each shift.
- Responsible for collecting accurate payment from the guest and depositing the exact amount of sales.
- Ensure a reasonable effort is made in preventing a guest from being intoxicated.
- Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors: front and back of the house.
- Maintain appearance and uniform standards.
- Handle all guest service issues in an immediate and professional manner.
- Follow Company and departmental environmental practices to minimize wasted energy and resources.
- Follow Company and departmental safety practices to minimize risk to self and others.
- Follow Company and departmental policies and procedures. Hold crew members accountable for the same.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Lifting, balancing, and carrying cocktail trays.
- Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: Service procedures, beverage and food menus as appropriate, Aloha point of sales.
- Knowledge of brands, selections and recipes helpful.
- Computer experience and knowledge of ordering procedures.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation.
- Ability to motivate and foster a positive work environment.
- Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required. Workshops will be provided if not currently certified.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours per shift. Able to walk for long periods of time. Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Bending and kneeling, stretching and reaching for extended periods of time. Working with required chemicals.
AUTHORITIES:
- Respond immediately and professionally to guest service issues and report the situation to the Dining Room Manager or F&B Manager on duty.
- Supervise the service in the bars, ensure guest satisfaction, and develop and train employees in the beverage program.
