As a designer at Valve, you'll be part of an extremely motivated, dedicated, and experienced team that's responsible for some of the most compelling consumer entertainment experiences ever created. You'll contribute significantly to Valve games and to Steam, Valve's social entertainment and e-commerce platform. You'll also use your motion design and problem-solving skills to create world-leading products for millions of users. In collaboration with a cross-disciplinary team of peers, you'll be helping to define the way users engage with our products - be it a film, a game, a social platform, or an online experience.

Duties:

  • Translate design requirements into feasible, compelling entertainment experiences.
  • Create conceptual wireframes, motion studies, and low-fidelity prototypes for discussion and testing purposes.
  • Design high-fidelity mockups for proof-of-concept testing and planning.
  • Iterate through high-fidelity prototypes to solidify design direction.
  • Produce shipping designs, finalizing motion details and effects and integrating these into consumer software and linear media for release.
  • Get your hands dirty in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Flash, HTML 5, and other similar tools.
  • Be a vigilant advocate for the user's experience.
  • Take pride in and personal ownership of your work.
  • Contribute directly to both the conceptual thinking behind and the physical creation of detailed, high-quality products.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA/BFA degree (or equivalent) in film, design (or equivalent)
  • At least six years of professional design experience in the software, TV, or film industry
  • A thorough understanding of motion design and film editing principles
