Landry's Downtown Aquarium located in Houston, Texas is seeking a full-time Biologist III. The Aquarium includes a 500,000 gallon facility of aquatic and terrestrial exhibits with freshwater and marine fish, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals.

Responsibilities include maintaining animal husbandry, water quality and life support systems, animal observation, maintaining support areas, and ensuring that all records are up to date and complete. Also performs diving duties and demonstrations, including public speaking and direct interaction with Aquarium guests.

Bachelor's Degree with major course work in Biology, Zoology or related field preferred. Work experience may be substituted. Must have five years zoological experience, preferably with Birds, Fish, Reptiles, Amphibians or combination. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Current member of professional organizations, including AZA preferred. Must have valid driver's license, truck and van experience. Demonstrated experience in accepted husbandry skills, including; animal handling transport, acclimation and care, management of safety protocols, quarantine and clinical treatments, behavioral and environmental enrichment. Must be self-motivated, with high desire to provide the best care available to animals. Must be observant. Must work with other employees in a polite, patient manner. Must have working knowledge of life support systems, animal husbandry, disease prevention, treatment and control and animal rearing techniques. Must be organized, self-motivated with eagerness to complete all projects. Must be willing to participate in public education and interaction. Must be prepared to work odd or unscheduled hours. Must represent Landry's Restaurants Inc. in a professional manner with all guests.
