Fixed Plant Operators

About the role

We are looking for Fixed Plant Operators to join our Surface & Underground Fixed Plant teams to operate the processing plants in a safe and efficient manner; performing daily inspections of equipment, maintaining plant condition and performing isolations for maintenance activities

This role is a great opportunity for enthusiastic individuals who are looking for a new challenge. The successful candidates will be exposed to block cave mining processes which is an expanding area of mining within Australia. Working a 7 days on, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster and reporting to the Team Leader Fixed Plant, you will be:

  • Operating, carrying out routine inspections and maintaining the condition of the fixed plants
  • Developing Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and identifying opportunities for improvement in the plant operation and work procedures
  • Conducting routine activities to ensure safe and reliable operation of our area assets
  • Manual handling associated with basic maintenance and inspection of plant
  • Hands on field role, monitoring of equipment, cleaning, hosing and identifying continuous improvement opportunities
  • Working autonomously to monitor the process in a safe and effective manner
  • Working in surface or underground plants

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Manual C Class drivers licence
  • Experience and understanding of operating fixed plant equipment, such as sizers, scrubbers, screens, conveyors and pumps
  • Experience operating plant control systems
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • High Risk Work Licenses such as Forklift, Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry
  • Experience performing and verifying equipment isolations
  • Experience operating mobile machinery such as bobcats and loads
  • CiTECH or SCADA experience
  • Licence to operator 992 loader or higher

Rio Tinto owns and operates the Argyle diamond mine in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The mine has been operating since 1983 and has produced more than 800 million carats of rough diamonds. It is one of the world's largest supplier of diamonds and the world's largest supplier of natural coloured diamonds. Argyle's significant commitment to the East Kimberley supports a sustainable future for the region that will endure well beyond the life of the mine. Argyle is dedicated to the development of relationships with local communities and has committed to a Participation Agreement with the region’s Traditional Owners, which preserves Traditional Owners’ rights and interests in relation to the mining lease area.
