The Drilling and Completions (D&C) team strives to complete our wells economically, by using the best technology to research, develop, evaluate, execute, and communicate our results. We operate with worker safety, regulatory compliance, environmental sensitivities and community engagement at top of mind. Our D&C team is currently seeking an Intermediate Thermal Heavy Oil Drilling Engineer for a permanent opportunity


Responsibilities:



  • Execute scope of work through high quality planning, technical design, operating practices and cost estimates for vertical, deviated and horizontal wells

  • Provide operational direction and control for field onsite supervisors

  • Ensure regulatory requirements and reporting is met

  • Drilling technical focal point for interactions with geology, exploitation & operations area team

  • Investigate new drilling technologies for project implementation

  • Ability to execute on new ideas and follow through with documented lessons learned and recommendations

  • Project management of drilling projects - quality control and track performance of safety, cost, schedule, quality

  • Actively review EH&S guidelines and provide leadership role with onsite supervisors and vendors

  • Provide well control and emergency planning response expertise

  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior technical staff



Qualifications

This role will require an experienced drilling engineer to drive our Thermal Drilling Program forward.
A background in Conventional and/or Thermal environments are an excellent starting point to grow in this role.
Honed decision making and problem solving skills will be used regularly by multidisciplines to drive the project forward.
This role will expect the incoming candidate to have strong communication through various mediums in order to interact with a diverse group of people.

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering is preferreD
  • 7-10 years of drilling experience

  • Ability to travel to field locations on a periodic regular basis
