Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Reports to CDP in assigned work area
  • Arrive at work for scheduled start time, ready to commence work with appropriate tools, uniform and in adherence to the grooming policy.
  • Clean and maintaining all tools and equipment
  • Wear gloves when handling food that is not to be heated enough to kill bacteria or when handling food in front of guests
  • Able to clean, organize and maintain a work area
  • Make decisions in aid of superior guest service and enhanced team production
  • Control waste and spoilage in the assigned department
  • Perform all given job tasks to set standards (while constantly seeking to
  • Insure proper labeling, dating and storage of all items in the kitchen
  • Insure all food produced is top quality in order to WOW our guest. . Check flavour , seasoning, texture and it"s visual appeal
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards, guidelines and policies.
  • Complete all given job tasks to set standards (while constantly seeking to improve)
  • Prepare daily mis-en-place for assigned kitchen area
  • Control waste an spoilage in assigned kitchen area
  • Model behaviour on Fairmont"s values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Empowerment
  • Handle guest allergy concerns with appropriate care and importance
  • Keep work area clean and organized, and set for the other Colleagues.
  • Adhere to the hotel"s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2 - 3 years kitchen experience in a reputable establishment
  • W.H.M.I.S. certification
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Trained in knife use and safety.
  • Food safe course and understand F.I.F.O
  • Able to read a BEO, present foods that are visually appealing
  • Flexibility with schedule must be able to do shift work and adhere to fluctuating business levels due to a 24hr 7 day a week operation
  • Must be responsible and able to perform with minimal supervision in a fast paced high-energy environment
  • Self-motivated, efficient in a fast-paced environment and able to take initiative
  • Strong communication skills with culinary team and all other departments
  • Ability to up production levels and work output to match business levels
  • Openness to change and understanding of empowerment and its use in turning moments into memories for our guests
  • Understands time constraintsAttention to detail
    Ability to clean, organize and maintain a work area
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
