Position Description:
This is the entry/trainee level class for this series. Incumbents, under immediate supervision, will learn the duties of the Ski Lift Operator by participating in training programs to become proficient in performing line, tower and/or terminal maintenance and maintaining a safe and fun work environment. Work is intended to provide specific instruction and feedback to familiarize the employee with the Eaglecrest Mountain, lift operations, as well as safety policies and procedures. The Ski Lift Operator will develop skills to operate lifts by themselves and would routinely have higher-level staff for assistance.

The Lift Operator may not perform all of the duties listed and may perform some duties not listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed below.

    • Promptly opens and shuts down lifts on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Maintains the ramp by shoveling, raking and/or removing snow from the chairs.
    • Provides a safe and positive guest experience by communicating in a positive and enthusiastic manner with a guest oriented attitude; maintains an awareness of guests' needs.
    • Loads guests, checks tickets and controls mazes.
    • Instructs guests in the safe use of the lifts.
    • Enforces operational, maintenance, and safety rules.
    • Assists with the accurate recording of maintenance duties performed, safety meeting agendas and attendance records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Ski lift operation experience is highly desirable but not required.

Other: Lift Operators must be able to work in adverse weather conditions while being on their feet for a continuous period, and be physically able to shovel snow for extended periods of time.
