We are looking for the technology leaders of tomorrow to join our research team. This person will be working on cutting edge crystalline silicon research projects. They will be responsible for these projects from conception to implementation into high volume manufacturing. This includes, but is not limited to; understanding the fundamental process requirements, researching and developing new improved processes, interacting with suppliers, presenting to executives and interfacing with several other groups within SunPower. As a development position, a demonstrated knowledge of experimentation is preferred. Other requirements include design of experiments; paper studies; coordinating and executing experiments; characterization; organizing and understanding the data; clear presentation and representation of the data highlighting gaps as well as conclusions; and determining the next step in development.

We are looking for exceptionally smart, motivated, and socially intelligent candidates who have demonstrated capacity for innovation and leadership. An organized person who would be willing to travel up to 25% of their time would be most suited to this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for current and future wet etch and clean processes development within SunPower
• Generate new ideas to improve cleans, wet etch processes and chemistries
• Work closely with team members across the globe to design and select cleans and wet etch equipments as well as chemicals.
• Design, execute and analyze experiments
• Interact closely with members of the R&D group to provide specifications, qualifications and solutions for new products.
• Perform cost and business analysis of new processes and equipments
• Interact with vendors across the globe
• Maintain cleans and wet etch equipments and processes in an R&D lab
• Communicate and negotiate with internal and external project customers

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or equivalent research experience required
• Hands-on experience with cleans and wet etch tools, processes and chemicals.
• Hands-on experience in wet etch tools maintenance and improvement
• Proven track record in pushing beyond the state-of-the-art in to deliver and implement innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex logistics
• Exceptional analytical skills, independent problem solving skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines amidst changing requirements, deadlines and priorities
• Ability to be creative, versatile, efficient and productive with minimal supervision or guidance
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of silicon solar cells is preferred
• Strong drive for results and continuous improvement
