Position Description:
The IT Software Engineer Senior role is to design, execute, assess, and troubleshoot software programs and applications. This includes configuring, coding, developing, and documenting software specifications throughout the project life cycle. The Software Engineer will also oversee system startups in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide support to other departments where required. Requires in-depth knowledge and experience; Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services; Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions; Works independently; receives minimal guidance; Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of other staff members.

*Position can be located in Juno Beach or Miami, FL.

Qualifications:

    * Minimum of 5 years experience as a systems analyst or support analyst
    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    * Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
    * Previous experience in supporting Oracle, Linux, Networking, and Distributed applications
    * Technical background, with experience in application/product development, lifecycle management, and operations. Focus on AMI, Distribution and Customer Service solutions is preferred
    * Excellent teamwork skills
    * Proven ability to coordinate vendors and cross-functional teams
    * Experience in defining and tracking operational based metrics and Service Level Agreements
    * Must be able to travel other FPL and vendor sites when necessary
    * Experience working virtual environment
    * Experience with Regulatory compliance and SOX applications is preferred
    * Formal six sigma experience is preferred
